DNF Mobile’s Ranma collaboration and Black Day avatars are here!

On Thursday, April 23, DNF Mobile will add the new Male Fighter classes, Striker and Street Fighter.

Pre-registration has already started ahead of the update, and the latest developer note also offered an early look at the Ranma collaboration avatars.

In this post, I’ll go over the main details briefly.

Male Fighter Pre-Registration

Male Fighter pre-registration is available in-game, and there is no separate web page for it.

The rewards are the SD Male Fighter creature and the Classy Man title. These are less about powerful options and more like a small badge showing you started raising the class right at launch. So if you plan to main a Male Fighter from day one, it’s worth grabbing them first.

Ranma Collaboration Avatars

Starting that same day, the Ranma 1/2 collaboration will also begin on April 23.

Some players may remember the original series, but with the remake now available on Netflix through Season 2, it could be worth checking out as well if you haven’t seen it yet.

The developer note released today also gave an early preview of the Ranma collaboration avatars. The first thing that stood out was that avatars have been prepared for every class, including Male Fighter.

The class assignments are pretty fun too. Saotome Ranma is assigned to Male Slayer and Male Fighter, Tendo Akane to Female Priest, Shampoo to Female Fighter and Female Mage, and Hibiki Ryoga to Male Mage.

Most notably, Ranma’s female transformation version has been included as a hidden avatar for Male Slayer, while Genma’s panda transformation version has been added as a hidden avatar for Male Priest.

It also brings to mind the old PC Dungeon&Fighter Fate/stay night collaboration, when Male Slayer transformed into Saber. In DNF Mobile, though, this is effectively the first time a female transformation has been used.

Since that gender-swap element also fits the original series setting, the community response has been quite positive.

The animal transformation versions of Shampoo, Mousse, and P-chan (Ryoga) will appear as creatures.

As for the collaboration events, Martial Arts Coin Festival, Legendary Training Hall, Mini Attendance Check, and Mysterious Spring are on the way. If these are presented as minigames and mission-style events based on scenes and settings from the original series, they should be fun to check out too.

Black Day Event

Meanwhile, the Black Day event has already started a little early in-game.

Black Day falls on April 14 and is known as the day when people who didn’t get gifts on Valentine’s Day or White Day eat jjajangmyeon. That said, plenty of people also mark it simply because they want an excuse to eat jjajangmyeon.

In DNF Mobile, four previously released avatars are being brought back: Jjajang Female Mage, Jjapaguri Master Male Priest, Guiguiba Male Slayer, and Dodocon Thief.

Until the April 23 maintenance, if you enter a dungeon and meet the Black Delivery Worker, you can get a serving of jjajangmyeon and choose 1 of the 4 Black Day avatars as a reward.

The Female Mage has a fun detail where jjajangmyeon spills out when she falls over

So you can pick up one for free here, and if you want more, you can also buy additional ones in the shop with Terra. For new or returning players, that makes this rerun a nice chance to grab them.

Wrapping Up

That’s a quick roundup of the DNF Mobile Ranma 1/2 collaboration avatars, the Black Day event, and the Male Fighter pre-registration news.

Based on images circulating in the community, it also looks like a Ttangs Budae Jjigae collaboration may be in preparation. Still, since nothing has been officially confirmed yet, it’s best to wait and see.

Even so, it’s clear that April and May should have plenty for players to enjoy.
