My Mabinogi Mobile private cinema experience — something ...

In the April 2 update, Mabinogi Mobile introduced a new feature called the Private Theater.

It’s a theater space where you can watch the YouTube videos you want, either on your own or with other players.

It felt like a refreshingly new kind of content, so I wanted to try it out for myself.

Thankfully, it’s easy for returning players to access as well, so I was able to jump right in.

Mera’s Location

First, to access the Private Theater, you need to complete the side quest “Wolf Rock Photo” and meet Mera.

If “Wolf Rock Photo” is not in your side quest list, find the quest item “How to Take Great Photos” in your bag and use it.

After taking the Wolf Rock photo,

head to the campfire in Tir Chonaill Village.

Mera is under the large tree along the uphill path from there to the chief’s house.

When you talk to Mera, she shyly asks whether you can give her the Wolf Rock photo, and it’s pretty cute how happy she gets if you do.

Entering the Private Theater!

Once you finish the Wolf Rock Photo quest, a side quest called “Cozy Theater, Private Theater” appears.

Pressing the Proceed button reveals that Mera wants to repay you for the photo from earlier, and she gives you the Private Theater as a gift.

You can use the Private Theater from your tool bag.

If you want to use it privately, just press Create with the default settings left as they are. If you want to use it with other players, check Show Party Recruitment Panel and Register on Party Board.

Then the room you created will appear under the Board Game tab on the Party Board.

Up to 8 people can use a single room, and you can spot public rooms made for all sorts of purposes, from binge-watching Successors to simply listening to music together.

When you enter the Private Theater, you’ll see a projector right in front of you. Interacting with it lets you enter a YouTube video URL.

A Mabinogi Mobile-selected video is set by default, so even if you do not enter anything and just press Confirm, there will still be something playing.

At the moment, that default video is “An Old Legend My Grandmother Told Me as a Child,” performed by Kim Chang-wan & CHUU.

Next, when you sit in the seat you want, the camera automatically shifts to the best viewing angle for the video.

A bit like Chzzk watch-together

You can chat too, so it’s easy to enjoy other players’ reactions and casual conversation while watching.

Unlike voice chat, text chat does not interrupt your focus on the video as much, which makes the whole YouTube viewing experience a little more enjoyable.

If you tap the video control mode on the right, you can also watch in full screen.

From there, you can use light controls such as pausing the video or moving to a specific point.

That said, you cannot play related videos or switch to other videos through slides, and you can only watch the video tied to the URL you entered, so it’s better suited to long-form videos than Shorts.

As a quick tip, you can adjust the playback speed by tapping the gear icon in the top right of the video.

You can also go into More Options and check Repeat Playback to loop the same video indefinitely.

For reference, the video you want to watch must be public and rated as suitable for children and teens, and it can only be viewed if it is set to public.

I think it’s a nice piece of content where players can naturally gather around shared interests, watch videos they enjoy, chat together, and maybe even make a few like-minded friends. With Mabinogi’s 1st anniversary currently underway as well, this feels like a good time to log in and give it a try.
