My experience reaching level 600 in just one day during Baram Nara’s 30th anniversary!

On April 5, 2026, Baram Nara marked its 30th anniversary.

As Korea’s longest-running MMORPG, it had quite a few anniversary events lined up, so I logged in again for the first time in a while. A lot had changed more than I expected.

This time, I want to share my impressions after leveling the newly added Heuk Hwarang class to 600 myself.

Heuk Hwarang

The new class added for Baram Nara’s 30th anniversary is Heuk Hwarang.

The class is based on a Silla Hwarang who fights by using Mago’s twisted power. In simple terms, it is a dark version of Hwarang, but the key point is that it is aligned with good rather than evil.

At the start of the game, the story shows an old man discovering a baby with a strange mark deep in a forest where a tiger once lived, and raising the child himself.

Heuk Hwarang uses a sword and a bow as its main weapons. Its basic spells, Yeonmu and Aegisal, become sword-based AoE attacks at close range, while at long range they turn into single-target bow attacks.

The rest of its active spells also lean heavily toward AoE skills and gap closers, so it strongly comes across as a class built for fast hunting.

Hero’s Path level 600 impressions

Once you start leveling in earnest, you are guided through a quest line called “Hero’s Path”.

Basically, you can just follow this all the way to level 600, and any Divine Beast choice is fine.

Most of the quests follow a simple structure: defeat a set number of monsters or collect quest items.

Following the quest flow quickly took me from Beginner Hunting Grounds through Rat Cave, Snake Cave, Deer Cave, Bear Cave, Pig Cave, Fox Cave, Jaho Cave, Scorpion Cave, Skeleton Cave, Goblin Cave, and even past the Haunted House. It felt like a nostalgia tour through the game’s old hunting grounds.

I made it through all of those hunting grounds in just 30 minutes and reached level 99. From level 99 onward, EXP starts being stored separately like a form of currency.

Once you build up enough EXP, you have to summon Dohogwiin and sell that EXP to level up. After breaking past level 100 that way, the second tour begins, this time from Bandit Cave to areas beyond the North.

One useful tip while progressing: pressing SHIFT+2 lets you fast-travel to the quest objective, and pressing O opens dialogue with NPCs. On maps with multiple NPCs, the closest one appears at the top of the list.

You can also click the calendar-shaped icon at the bottom for Events, then select the Narsha event. Through Barina Narsha 1+1, you can designate a character to receive an extra level each time it gains one level.

Aside from that, most events tend to unlock from level 600 onward, so it is worth going through them once you get there.

Some spells switch to auto-use when placed in the quickslot.

If that does not happen automatically, you can activate it by dragging the spell into the box shown above. The reverse works the same way.

By following Hero’s Path for about four hours, I was able to reach level 600 and complete the 6th advancement (Hwawon).

Rather than simply handing out a jump start, I think the structure works well because it takes you through the classic hunting grounds one by one and gives you time to get used to the controls.

Once you reach level 600, you can keep progressing through Hero’s Path while mixing in hunting grounds, Fantasy Trials, raids, and other Adventure content, then move on to content that unlocks in order, such as Ansi Fortress, Challenge Cheonha Jeil, Susanoo, and Akgwimun.

Even raids were cleared without much trouble

I also liked that while group play is available, the class still feels perfectly comfortable solo, and I am looking forward to visiting the newly added region of Silla as well.

Advent Calendar answers

Until May 13, clearing the 14 quizzes or missions in the official website’s Advent Calendar lets you choose between entering for a 30th anniversary commemorative film camera or 30,000 won in Nexon Cash.

There is also the Fortune Overflow event, where you can draw your daily fortune once per day. If you get Great Luck, you are entered into a raffle for a Squirrel Evil-Repelling Doll. The design is fairly striking, with a squirrel face combined with the shape of a dried pollack hanging down.

Meanwhile, if you select Jangdolbaengi Name Market from the in-game event menu, you are moved to Border Market. By speaking to the Jangdolbaengi there, you can trade character names. The most popular name was “Boreum,” priced at 300 Name Slips, or 300 million jeon.

Closing thoughts

That wraps up my overview of the Baram Nara 30th anniversary Heuk Hwarang Hero’s Path run to level 600.

There is also an ongoing event that awards 100,000 and 200,000 Baram Points to the first players to reach levels 750 and 800. As of April 7, there were still plenty remaining, so it looks like a worthwhile goal if you want to keep pushing.
