It’s been a while since my last MapleLand quest guide. Previously, we covered the Traces of a Rumor quest. This time, we’ll be hunting Stumpy ourselves. Today’s guide will walk you through the MapleLand quests Stump Investigation and Stumpy the Tree Monster.

Stump Investigation

Winston says you were a great help earlier and that the tree must be Stumpy. He explains that Stumpy has been causing trouble for the Stumps.

Still, this is only a hypothesis, so he needs Dried Branches to confirm it.

He asks you to observe the Stumps and collect 100 branches. These actually drop from Dark Axe Stumps rather than Stumps.

With that in mind, I headed to East Rocky Mountain 5 to hunt Dark Axe Stumps. Hunt them here and collect the branches they drop.

Keep hunting until you have all the branches you need. They look similar to ordinary branches, but since they drop from Dark Axe Stumps, you shouldn’t have much trouble telling them apart.

Once you bring back 100 branches, Winston realizes just how serious the situation is.

Stumpy the Tree Monster

After examining the branches closely, Winston is certain that his hypothesis is correct. He explains that the consequences will be far more serious than he expected.

When you don’t understand what he means, he explains that Stumpy has been absorbing nutrients not only from the Stumps, but directly from Perion itself. The Stumps weren’t drying up because their nutrients were being stolen; they simply couldn’t find any nutrients to absorb.

He says that if this continues, Perion will become a lifeless wasteland where nothing can survive. He then asks for your help.

Stumpy is a very dangerous creature. It is remarkably resilient and poses a threat to most living things. Winston explains that defeating Stumpy is the only way to save Perion.

Stumpy Spawn Maps

Stumpy can be found in East Rocky Mountain 5, 6, and 7. You may have quite a wait before Stumpy appears. In my case, I spotted Stumpy after waiting about 1~2 hours.

Stumpy is level 20. Since I was level 75, it was a fairly weak opponent for me. Anyway, once you defeat Stumpy, the quest is nearly complete.

Rewards

Return to Winston to collect your rewards. You’ll receive 43,500 EXP and 5 Fame.

Winston still seems quite uneasy about something, though. What could be worrying him? In any case, that brings the quest to an end.

Wrapping Up

Today, we covered the MapleLand quests Stump Investigation and Stumpy the Tree Monster. I think players around level 20~30 should find these quests fairly easy to complete.
