An AI terrarium of MapleStory maps I’d love to visit #테라리움

Hello

This time, the keyword is terrarium—imagining terrariums built from elements found in the game. A terrarium is basically a tiny ecosystem arranged inside a glass container, and with that in mind, I asked Nanobanana AI to visualize a few maps I would love to visit at least once, even if they are the kind of places we could never see in real life, then picked out the results that came out especially well.

The deeper parts of Sleepywood that we can no longer see now

This image is based on the old Sleepywood Dungeon map, which is no longer in the game now. Those face-shaped stone statues, said to have been inspired by a real place overseas, had such a strong impact in so many ways that even now there are still plenty of people who miss that distinctive atmosphere, and I am definitely one of them. The statues were also set a little away from the town, and back then the map itself felt broad enough that it really gave off the sense of exploring ruins in some remote corner of the world, which I think made it all the more memorable.

Ellodin: Where a spring flows deep in the forest

This image is based on the final map of Ellodin, which is well known as a photo spot. It was already a beautiful map to begin with, so it feels only natural that it came out so nicely here too.

This is what the baby bird looks like originally, and when I asked for a realistic style it came out like that, which honestly made me laugh.

The lobby of The Seed under the sea, and Basement Floor 50

This image is based on The Seed lobby. Since The Seed itself is a space created by the Transcendent of Life to serve as an ark for preserving life, I cannot help thinking that, in a way, it really could be seen as an enormous terrarium.

The Seed lobby has a real sense of grandeur, and I think that comes through quite well here. It was not intentional, but looking at the vines and the state of the notice board, it gives off the feeling of a place that has gone untouched for a very long time, and that oddly overlaps with how The Seed feels now.

This image is based on Basement Floor 50, which lies at the complete opposite end from the lobby. I especially like how well the square-shaped trees came out. Personally, this paper-textured house feels like the kind of design that would work well even as a chair, and more broadly, like something whose dot art could be used almost as-is, so it is a little disappointing that there is currently nothing related to it in the game.

Zakum’s Altar and the tree that is Zakum’s true form

This image is based on the tree that is Zakum’s true form, the one seen at Zakum’s Altar before summoning him with the Eye of Fire. In dot form, that detail did not stand out quite so clearly, but seen like this, the demonic face is unmistakable, and it feels genuinely eerie. If a terrarium like this were sitting on display at home, I feel like it would keep catching my eye for all sorts of reasons.

Thank you for reading.
