BaramNara, a game with a truly remarkable history #바람의나라30주년
마빡도로시

Hello
This keyword is 바람의나라30주년, and I wanted to write a little about the various things tied to Baram Nara's 30th anniversary

My personal memories of Baram Nara go back quite a long way, so I cannot really point to one specific scene that stayed with me, but I do clearly remember how much fun I had with it at the time, and when you consider that this is a live service game, reaching 30 years feels genuinely extraordinary
The 30th anniversary event held in MapleStory

To mark Baram Nara's 30th anniversary, MapleStory also held a celebratory event on April 5. There was not much to it, really; you answered a quiz where every choice was correct, and in return you received rewards

Aside from the Squirrel 4x EXP Coupon, the other rewards were items that had already been distributed in earlier events. As for the EXP coupon, the icon was cute enough that I ended up preserving it in storage

That said, because this event only lasted for a single day and because the overall volume felt a little slight, there were also reactions suggesting that it might have been nice to bring back the Squirrel Extermination Mission event from the Nexon 30th anniversary collaboration

That event parodied the progression style of Vampire Survivors while layering in elements from Baram Nara, and beyond the anniversary tie-in itself, I remember the minigame being fairly well received simply because it was quite fun on its own

Alongside that, I cannot help thinking it would be nice if the reward items from back then were re-released someday as well

At the moment, the celebratory event in MapleStory has already ended, but other games still have plenty of time left on their event schedules, so it would be worth checking the notices for whichever game you play and looking over the details there. You can go to the event page through this link

In addition, the full event page can be accessed through this link, and since the growth support events only began fairly recently as well, this feels like a rather good time if you have been thinking about starting fresh or coming back

Beyond the growth event, there is also the nickname auction event, Jangdolbaengi Name Market, along with the draw event, Lucky Fortune Event, so if either of those sounds appealing, they seem worth a look
A legacy even more impressive than expected

Another thing I learned through this event was that every one of the choices above was actually correct. I already knew the game had been running for a very long time, but this was the first time I learned that it is the world's longest-running graphic MMORPG and also Korea's first PC MMORPG

This is apparently the Baram Nara history timeline distributed by Nexon, and considering that other sources say it began with just one concurrent user, it really does feel fair to call it a meaningful game

I looked up what the declaration of complete free-to-play meant exactly, and apparently the game used to follow a model that feels quite unfamiliar now, where it was only free up to a certain level and after that you had to spend money to keep leveling further

Also, the Dotori Shop listed at the end of the timeline appears, from what I found, to be a page selling Baram Nara-related merchandise on Nexon Essential, and with commemorative goods said to be planned for the 30th anniversary, it seems like a page worth visiting if you are interested
