MapleStory’s Most Memorable April Fools’ Events Over the Years #만우절
마빡도로시

Hello
This time’s keyword is April Fools’ Day, and we’ll be taking a look at some of the events MapleStory has held for it.
April Fools’ Day is the kind of occasion that can be a great chance to give players something genuinely fun if it’s used well, so MapleStory has kept up a fairly steady run of related events over the years. Here, I’ve gathered some of the more memorable ones.
April Fools’ Day Event in 2026: [Lost Roly-Poly Worker]

The 2026 April Fools’ Day event, [Lost Roly-Poly Worker], does not really lean that heavily into the holiday’s usual April Fools’ flavor.

After accepting the event, you progressed by searching Eos Tower for a Roly-Poly Worker that had wandered to the wrong place.

That said, from the perspective of a person wearing a mascot costume from Seoul, it arguably feels April Fools’-ish enough.

This event runs through Sunday, April 5, which is today as of this writing. The Roly-Poly Worker can also appear in the Hidden Tower, accessible from Eos Tower 8th Floor, so you will want to check there as well.
April Fools’ Day Event in 2025: [Break the Curse That Makes You Crumble Before Octopus]

The 2025 April Fools’ Day event, Break the Curse That Makes You Crumble Before Octopus!, was themed around the [Carcion Octo Festa] event that was running at the time.

The event revolved around being afflicted with a curse from the octopuses that had been heavily culled at the time, turning you into an octopus yourself, and then finding a way to resolve it.

While under the curse that turns you into an octopus, you cannot even speak human language, which leaves you at risk of being eliminated by NPCs. If you safely broke the curse, you could obtain the Octopuuus! Damage Skin.

Apparently, the curse could even spread to other people. The one being pointed out above was Octopus, and if you saved the Octopus-filled Kerning City Construction Site from the curse, you received a chair that lets you transform into a cute octopus.

One unusual part of the event was that it also included a task where players submitted an acrostic poem using “April Fools’ Day.” I do not clearly remember whether that was ever used for anything afterward.
April Fools’ Day Event in 2024: [Monday Maple]

Monday Maple, the 2024 April Fools’ Day event, was held on a Monday as a parody of Sunday Maple.

Alongside Sunday Maple-style EXP-related effects,

it was also a simple, convenient event where you could claim the Transparent Damage Skin (Unit) immediately just by talking to the NPC.
April Fools’ Day Event in 2022: [Find Pink Bean One! Two! Three!]

Find Pink Bean One! Two! Three!, the 2022 April Fools’ Day event, had players bring back the items requested by three Pink Beans.

One of them was the real Pink Bean in disguise, and if you are familiar with how the mascots usually speak, you could probably tell who was who from their speech patterns.

If you completed every request, you received that innerwear outfit along with Haste Feathers as rewards. Haste Feathers were a currency used in the Haste Coin Shop.
April Fools’ Day Event in 2019: [Toben Hair Is the Trend]

Toben Hair Is the Trend, the 2019 April Fools’ Day event, put the spotlight on Toben Hair, who was fairly prominent in MapleStory at the time with that veteran-player concept.

Toben Hair shows up in a veteran-player outfit and tells you to go defeat 20190401 level-range monsters before returning.

Of course, the event could actually be cleared after defeating only a few monsters, and he vanished after delivering the reward along with some memorable lines.

The reward was the unmistakably unusual Toben Hair Hero Damage Skin.
April Fools’ Day Event in 2018: [Chaotic April Fools’ Day Event]

The 2018 April Fools’ Day event, Chaotic April Fools’ Day Event, used a format that brings to mind the annual background screens from MapleStoryM.

In that kind of art style,

Elite Monsters at the time appeared in the rough drawing style shown below,

and the event rewards included equally absurd items like the ones above. In a way, this may have been the event that fit the April Fools’ Day theme best.

There were also April Fools’ commemorative items on sale, including commander items with the Aing-eye version and weapons called Anippudeong, an official parody of Gaeippudeong.
Before that….

In 2017, April Fools’ package sales were accompanied by Change Hair and Face Coupons being sold for a slightly longer period as well.

In 2016, all damage skins were changed so they displayed only ㅋ.

In 2015, they even announced that Pink Bean would be released as a job. A month later, it actually was. Looking back, it is interesting to see how that effectively continued on into what is now Lucid Burning.

Lastly, way back in 2008, MapleStory and DNF apparently held a collaboration event where the two games swapped their websites.

These were players’ reactions at the time, and they feel like the kind of earnest comments that are hard to come by these days ㅋㅋ
Thank you for reading.
