Hello!

This post takes us on a pilgrimage to iconic sites to explore meaningful locations within the game.

No discussion of meaningful locations in MapleStory would be complete without the spot in front of the maple tree on Maple Island, where it all began. There are countless other places that hold personal memories for each of us, but this post focuses on those given official recognition. I have gathered these locations and characters through the Arcane River Special Investigation Records in the newly added World Archive.

These locations and NPCs were chosen for their importance to each region’s story, giving the records particular significance. The Special Investigation Record for Limina is especially impressive and worth a look even if you do not register it yourself, so I have included it here.

World Archive: Arcane River

The Arcane River Investigation Records introduced in this March update are the first additions since Victoria Island in last October’s update. Registering all of them adds 233 entries to your collection. The monsters range from the Happy Erda, the weakest, to the Black Mage, the strongest.

A reward for collecting 1500 entries has also been added, with a design that matches the Arcane River theme. Its equipped appearance is shown above.

Vanishing Journey Special Investigation Record: What Are Special Investigation Records?

Location: Vanishing Journey - Misty Falls

Character: Someone’s Clothes

Keyword: I promise I’ll make our dream come true.

Before moving on, here is a brief explanation of the Special Investigation Record system for anyone unfamiliar with it.

As the Investigation Record for Someone’s Clothes shows, some text is highlighted in bold. Enter that text in the chat window while standing next to the relevant NPC to register the Special Investigation Record, as shown above.

You can view the record using the bookmark at the bottom of that NPC’s World Archive entry. Each record contains either a standalone illustration or an illustration with an additional episode. These records do not add to your collection count.

All Arcane River records are registered by entering keywords in the chat window, but earlier records have used other methods. Examples from Victoria Island include Alcaster, who requires you to use 알레리아’s Elixir next to the NPC, and Neinheart, who requires an emoticon in the chat window.
