This time, the keyword is K-pop, and I wanted to write about an idol collaboration with a vibe that fits Nexon games well.

As it happens, a collaboration between BTS Jin, one of K-pop’s 대표 figures, and MapleStory is scheduled to begin at 10:00 on March 23 following the March 19 update, and after that, new content and related events are also planned to continue through April and May.

Usually, when a game collaboration happens, it is often the case that the model does not actually play the game. But this collaboration feels more meaningful because the singer is a real player who actively enjoys the game very diligently (to use the director's official wording), and on that basis he has taken part in the event and content details directly.

In this post, I have organized the main details related to this collaboration.

The first collaboration that took place in 2022

As mentioned earlier, this is not the first collaboration between MapleStory and BTS Jin. Back in August 2022, he appeared under the concept of a new intern, shared his thoughts in actual game meetings and on in-game content, and those ideas were reflected in real events and improvements, which received a very positive response from users.

MapleStory X Jin collaboration part 2 taking place in 2026, four years later

Then, four years later, during the Maple NOW online tour held on March 14, the second collaboration was announced rather suddenly. The full opening introduction from Director Kim Chang-seop is as follows.

“Seokjin, who joined us in 2022 as a new intern, has now safely completed his military service and returned as a planner. He was already a huge help during the intern period, but he has come back with an even sharper perspective. Together with Seokjin, we have prepared a wide range of updates, from events to in-game content.”

It was announced that a total of three events will be held. Among the various projects, this one can be seen as the main event, and it will also be the first to begin. You can check the detailed contents of this event below. Players will be able to obtain high-value EXP items, and there are also coordination items themed after Jin. According to the announcement, these items were added as rewards following Jin's strong suggestion.

Once this March event ends, the collaboration will continue with more events in April and May. For April, a hot-time event has been announced in which Jin will personally log into the game, move around the world, and meet users. There will be rewards available during that moment, and there will also be rewards for simply logging in on the day. The exact date is scheduled to be revealed later.

As for the May event, the specific details have not been revealed yet, but it was mentioned that a new playable event with a new structure is being prepared. It was also announced that, compared with the previous Flame Alphabet Box, the overall style is quite different, with richer rewards and easier participation.

As mentioned earlier, this collaboration event and the cash item sales will begin at 10:00 on March 23. Going by the director's introduction, it also seems likely that episode-style videos like the previous Office Warrior Kim Seokjin video will be released later as well.

First collaboration event: Jin's Mysterious Garden

Jin's Mysterious Garden, the first collaboration event, can be joined once per Maple ID with a level 101 character. The event works by rolling dice, moving across the board, and collecting Growth Fertilizer Coins.

It runs from 10:00 on March 23 until 23:59 on May 13.

• Receive Dice: You can claim dice simply by clicking the Receive Dice button, with no other participation step required. Dice can be claimed once per day, up to 5 times per week, and each claim gives 3 dice. So, aside from week 1, when participation is only possible for 3 days, you can get up to 15 dice per week.

• Dice Pass: As of every Thursday at 0:00, when the weekly claim count resets, you can purchase missed dice claims for 3000 Maple Points per missed claim.

• The event runs for a total of 52 days, through May 13. With full attendance, you can obtain a total of 114 dice by combining 3 claims in week 1 with 35 claims across the remaining 7 weeks.

• However, the notice also states that dice can be claimed up to 40 times in total, so it will need to be confirmed later whether the remaining 2 claims are instead moved to the purchasable Dice Pass count.

When you press the Roll Dice button, 3 dice are rolled at once, and you can use the 3 results in whichever order you want.

Depending on the numbers you roll, you can check the spaces ahead of your piece and move in the direction that gives you the best result. There are also some extra factors that can affect that decision, so those are worth considering as well when you move. The relevant spaces are shown below, and in most cases, their effects are fairly easy to understand at a glance.

These affect the amount of Growth Fertilizer you receive: double and half, respectively.

These make you move additional spaces after landing, based on the number written on the tile.

If you land on a question mark tile, you can choose either a guaranteed reward of 200 Growth Fertilizer or

a probability-based reward.

Question mark dice are special dice, and rolling them gives a random effect.

Since the random element is only added if you choose to roll them, it is not forced.

The “Mysterious Bee,” which appears based on chance, has the following effect.

Completing one full lap gives you 400 bonus Growth Fertilizer.

As for how much Growth Fertilizer you can get in 1 week (5 attendances / 15 dice), chance plays a big role, and since I have only been able to test it twice, I cannot say for certain. In my case, I got 5,550 and 6,000, but some people have said they got around 4,000, while others got more than I did, so it seems you will have to plan based on the results you personally get.

You can use the Growth Fertilizer you earn to buy items in the shop. All of them are EXP-related items.

You can claim cumulative rewards based on the number of times you roll the dice, and rolls using special dice are not included in that count. Along with growth rewards, the lineup also includes cosmetic items themed after Jin. In order, they are as follows.

You can reach the final reward by participating for 6 weeks (30 attendances) during the event period.
