A look at MapleStory’s various candies and past White Day events #화이트데이

Hello
This keyword is White Day, focusing on White Day and candy-related elements in Nexon games.
In MapleStory, the White Day event is no longer held, much like the Valentine's Day event, but it used to appear on a regular basis in the past. Alongside that, I also gathered some candy-related content that is worth looking through together.
Candy-themed items that can be obtained at any time
The candy cane item, classified as a normal item, has been well known since MapleStory's early days. Its current drop source is unclear, but it can still be purchased from the Auction House at a modest price.
The Cash Shop also sells the Sweet Candy Cane item, which is the same aside from its color. It costs 4,500 Cash and can also be purchased with Mileage.
The Cash Shop also offers a different long, cane-shaped candy item. Each one is priced at 4,000 Cash, and these can likewise be purchased with Mileage.
These packages are 4,900 Cash each and are described as Star Candy T-shirts. They are the Blueberry and Raspberry packages respectively, and because they are sold as packages, they cannot be purchased with Mileage.
If you search for candy in the Cash Shop, you can find a few other candy-shaped items as well, but since they are pet food, there is nothing a character can do with them.
Past White Day events
One feature of MapleStory's past White Day events is that, while they included candy-themed rewards, they also focused on love-themed content and placed considerable emphasis on the marriage system. These days, it feels like many players may not even know whether the marriage system and the vow system still exist, let alone view them as important. Looking back, it is interesting to see how much emphasis they received, almost as if they were major content at the time.
The 2011 White Day event, Vow Ceremony with Love Rain Falling, was unusual in that it offered access to the vow system itself rather than item rewards.
Normally, after 30 days and 100 days of marriage, players could use a vow ceremony ticket to hold a vow ceremony and receive additional commemorative rewards through it. The main point of this event was that it allowed players to proceed with the vow ceremony even before those periods had passed.
The rewards reportedly included a ring, a chair, and a Hyper Teleport Rock that could take you to your partner. It is hard to say what value these rewards had at the time, but from a current perspective, they seem closer to sentimental rewards than practical ones.
The 2013 White Day event used a format where players collected points by defeating level range monsters and then spent those points on rewards.
In this event, players could obtain glasses, earrings, and a title that looked as though they were made of candy, and
along with various other items, players could also receive Stella weapons as rewards, which I had not heard of before writing this post.
The Sweet White Day Gift event held in 2017 used a format where related gifts could be claimed simply by logging in.
The login rewards notably included a candy-themed medal and a damage skin box,
and the damage skin box also included candy-themed damage skins.
White Day events also quite often featured marriage-related Cash items sold together in bundles. This appears to have been part of the love theme mentioned earlier.
Given that the White Day event a year earlier was also run in this gift-distribution format, it seems possible that it was positioned as a lighter follow-up after the Valentine's Day event.
Unusual candies seen in Halloween Day events
Meanwhile, Halloween Day-themed events featured some especially unusual candies that feel like something you would only ever see in a game. I brought these in because a fair amount of thought seems to have gone into them, and it was interesting how convincing they looked when viewed together with their descriptions and the ingredient items used to make them.
