When it comes to a character’s popularity in games and anime,

looks matter, but the voice behind the character plays a huge part too.

We’ve all been there at least once, right?

A character’s design doesn’t do much for you at first, but then their voice actor’s performance wins you over.

For me, it’s Jhin and Xayah from League of Legends.

Neither champion really caught my eye at first, but their voices made me a fan.

MapleStory has plenty of characters with captivating voices too,

and today I want to spotlight MapleStory’s ultimate boss, Gerand Darmoor.

Gerand Darmoor already has plenty of fans thanks to his good looks,

and the voice actor bringing him to life is

none other than Jung Jae-heon!

I don’t know much about voice actors, but Jung Jae-heon is so famous that even I knew his name.

I had no idea what he looked like, though, so I Googled him. His looks surprised me—and then his age surprised me even more.

Wait, he looks like this at 50..? That’s insane.

What I love about Jung Jae-heon’s voice for Gerand Darmoor

is how commanding yet sexy it is—perfect for MapleStory’s ultimate boss..😊

My favorite video featuring Jung Jae-heon as Gerand Darmoor

is from the Grand Athenaeum episode The Gardener of Sephiroth.

There’s a scene where he takes off his glasses and holds out his hand to Asha.

“Because yours was the only life in this sanctuary worth anything,” he says,

and he’s just so cool in that moment!
