This ran from October 17, 2024 to November 20, 2024—

the MapleStory X Dave the Diver event

was easily the most fun collab event I’ve played so far,

and the player response was great too, so I really want them to bring this collab back.

The Dave the Diver event was divided into 3 parts:

Blue Hole Exploration

If you defeat the fish living in the Blue Hole,

you can get the seafood you need to run Bancho Sushi,

and with the money you make at Bancho Sushi, you can upgrade the gear you need for Blue Hole Exploration.

The more you upgrade your gear, the longer you can stay in the Blue Hole, and the easier fish hunting gets.

This was my first time playing this kind of game, so I played every day while checking maps other users made,

and it was really fun because it actually felt like exploring the ocean.

I’m not even that interested in fish, so other than the famous ones I didn’t know any of their names,

but playing this actually got me memorizing fish names.

I still think about the thresher shark..

Running Bancho Sushi

You turn the seafood you got from Blue Hole Exploration into dishes and sell them,

and with that money, you can upgrade the gear you need for Blue Hole Exploration or hire MapleStory NPCs as employees.

At the start of the event, I had to do serving dishes, clearing finished plates, serving green tea, and grinding wasabi

all by myself, so it was hectic, but once I started hiring employees later on,

they took care of everything on their own even if I just stood there, so it was super convenient.

Blue Hole Creature Encyclopedia

If you defeat fish living in the Blue Hole, they’re automatically added to the Blue Hole Creature Encyclopedia,

and every time you fill in a row, you get various rewards.

Most of it is made up of fish that appear in Dave the Diver,

but there are fish from MapleStory in there too,

That fish is the final boss, Pianus!

You just have to catch both the Pianus that appears on the left and the Pianus that appears on the right,

and true to its final boss status, it had a bunch of different mechanics, so it was fun to fight.
