Mr. Shim

Talk to him, and he introduces himself as Mr. Shim. He lives with his only daughter, Shim Chung, but says he doesn’t know where she’s gone.

He says he isn’t blind—his vision has just gotten blurry with age. You suggest giving glasses a try.

Mr. Shim says he’s heard of something called reading glasses. They’d be just what he needs, but they’re far too expensive.

Apparently, they cost 300 sacks of rice. Mr. Shim struggles to put food on the table, so he doesn’t have that kind of money. He hasn’t told his daughter, either—she’s so kindhearted that he knows it would upset her.

When you offer to help, Mr. Shim thanks you and asks for 300 sacks of rice. There’s just one problem: you don’t have any rice.

Mr. Shim explains that if you’re short on rice, you can get it from the Retz in Helios Tower. Anyway, your goal is to collect 300 sacks of rice.

Where to Hunt Retz

The closest place to hunt Retz from Korean Folk Town is Helios Tower 2nd Floor. It’s right near town, so you won’t have to travel far to hunt, and getting back is quick, too. As nearby hunting spots go, it’s hard to beat.

See that sack-shaped item over to the side while you’re hunting? That’s the rice. You’ll need 300 of them, and it isn’t sold on 메랜지지, so you’ll have to hunt for it yourself. Does that mean you’ll be stuck hunting for ages? Not really, because Retz sometimes drop around 2~3 at a time instead of just 1. You don’t need to worry too much about the drop rate. Anyway, keep hunting until you’ve collected 300.

Rewards

Head back to Mr. Shim, and he’ll thank you for collecting 300 sacks of rice. Your rewards are 1 copy of the storybook Shim Chung the Devoted Daughter and 5,700 EXP. This storybook probably has something to do with Wiz the Librarian, too.

He says it would have taken him years without your help, so to thank you, he gives you a book that’s been passed down as a family heirloom. And with that, Mr. Shim’s Request is complete.

Wrapping Up

That covers Mr. Shim’s Request for today, with another storybook collected along the way. I suspect there are some nice rewards waiting if we gather enough storybooks and pay Wiz the Librarian a visit.
