If you play Nexon games, account security is naturally something you end up paying attention to. In some games, if your security settings are not in place, you may not even be able to log in.

I tend to be especially careful about this because not long ago, back when Nexon OTP was not required in MapleLand, my level 40 Cleric that I had spent a lot of time raising was hacked, and all of my mesos and items were stolen.

The secondary password system in Nexon games can help to some extent, but those passwords can still be guessed fairly easily, and hackers may be able to figure them out without much trouble. With that in mind, let’s look at the two-step authentication methods recommended by the Nexon Security Center.

Nexon Two-Step Authentication

I personally use two Nexon two-step authentication options: Nexon OTP and designated devices. At first, Nexon OTP can seem inconvenient since you have to enter a code every time you launch a game, but I’ll explain how to set up designated devices, which helps remove a lot of that hassle.

You can use Nexon OTP through the Nexon Play app. In addition to generating verification codes, the app also lets you earn Nexon Play Points through various missions and gameplay, which can then be converted into Nexon Cash, so it feels almost essential for anyone who plays Nexon games.

Some people avoid using OTP simply because entering a verification code every time feels bothersome. However, the designated device feature helps with exactly that. Once you register a PC or mobile device, you do not need to enter the OTP on that device.

So for the main computer you use regularly, it is a good idea to register it so you can go straight into the game without entering a verification code each time.
