Essential Nexon security settings you should enable #계정 보안
마빡도로시
Hello
The focus of this post is account security—specifically, ways to protect your account while playing Nexon games.
Before anything else, the basics come first: use a password that is long enough and manageable for you, and run regular virus scans with antivirus software such as Windows Defender. After that, if you apply the security measures actively recommended by the game company based on your situation, you can say you have done a solid amount of preparation on your side.
If you are just starting out, or if you have been putting these settings off because they felt like a hassle, spending just 10 minutes looking through the Nexon Security Center below can make a meaningful difference in reducing future risk. Like most bad situations, hacking is most frustrating for the person it happens to, so preparing in advance is always the better option.

Nexon provides these related features through its Security Center. On PC, you can access it either from the bottom of the full menu on the left side of the Nexon website or by clicking the security icon next to your ID on the right.
The features offered in this menu do not take long to set up, so it is best to enable them whenever you have a bit of time. Hacking can still happen if you are unlucky, but even then these tools can help minimize the damage. The main features are as follows.
Nexon OTP (One Time Password) and designated devices
Nexon OTP is a security tool available through the Nexon Play app, and it is presented as being close to essential.
Once it is set up, the OTP feature requires you to enter a different 4-digit verification code each time you access the game. After that, you can register a designated PC so that this step is skipped on that specific computer, which makes it much less inconvenient. Once you have signed up and registered a designated PC, you can log in directly from your own computer, but on any other PC the OTP must be entered to access the game, so access from other computers is effectively blocked at the source.
In MapleStory, entering OTP is mandatory when deleting a character and when using Platinum Karma Scissors, and as shown above, it tells you what action is being attempted. If a message like this appears when it is not something you are doing yourself, you can reduce the damage by using the remote logout feature in Nexon Play to disconnect the session.
For designated PCs, it appears that you can generally configure them within each game as well as through the Nexon website.
Nexon Cash security settings
Nexon Cash security settings are a feature that lets you use cash only in the games you specify.
As shown here, if you check only the games you actually play, cash cannot be used in any others. Considering how many hacking cases involved cash items being purchased in games the account owner did not even play, this is a very useful feature.
For example, I once heard on an internet broadcast about a user who only played FC 온라인 but was suddenly charged for a MapleStory Power Elixir Package (Maple Points), which caught them off guard. I do not know whether this feature existed at the time, but if it had been enabled, it likely could have prevented that.
Block overseas login
As the name suggests, this feature blocks logins from overseas. Since many hacking cases involve logins from abroad, it is best to turn this on unless you actually play while overseas.
Block budget phone verification
This feature also does exactly what the name implies. If you do not use a budget phone plan yourself, there is little reason to leave this open, and since there have been related cases, Nexon provides a separate blocking option for it—so it is a good idea to enable it.
Beyond these, you can also check your login history here, set up OTP identity verification methods, and create the simple verification code needed for identity verification, so use each feature as needed.
Nexon also regularly runs monthly events related to OTP distribution. Even aside from those events, OTP is still the one setting I strongly recommend you enable at minimum, so take just a few minutes to go through the setup. It can clearly reduce your future risk.
MapleStory security features
In addition to the Nexon website, each game also has its own security procedures. In MapleStory, there is first a secondary password. You do need to set that up, but if you sign up for the OTP mentioned earlier and register a designated PC, you can skip entering the secondary password, which makes things more convenient.
There is also the Red PC system, which prevents trading on PCs that are not used regularly, and this too can be changed to a Green PC through OTP and designated device registration.
Lastly, Safe Mode in the menu opens the secondary password input window when clicked. This window cannot be closed with the cancel button, and until the secondary password is entered, no other action can be taken—not even closing the game. It is said to be used when participating in AFK events at PC cafés.
