Password Settings

Your password is the most basic security measure, but also the most important.

Make your password at least 8 characters long, using a mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. It should also be different from the passwords you use for other games or websites.

In particular, it is recommended that you also change the email account linked to your Nexon account to a strong password. If your email is compromised, your account could be taken over through a password reset.

If you play at a PC café or on a shared PC, always log out after signing in, and keep automatic login turned off as a basic habit.

Nexon OTP

Of the options in the Security Center, I recommend Nexon OTP the most. When OTP is enabled, even if a hacker knows your password, logging in becomes nearly impossible without the 6-digit verification code shown on your phone.

More recently, even stronger verification methods have been added, including authentication through credit cards, debit cards, and Toss.

Some people avoid setting up OTP because it feels inconvenient to use at every login.

If you register the PC and mobile devices you use most often, you can sign in immediately without OTP verification. You only need to verify when logging in from a PC café or another location, and you can also use a one-time login verification code for added convenience.

Block Overseas Access

Block Overseas Access is a feature that blocks logins from non-Korean IP addresses, helping prevent access from overseas hackers at the source. If you do not expect to travel abroad, simply turning this feature on can significantly improve your account security.

In actual hacking cases, it is common to see logins originating from overseas.

Login Management

You can also check your login history in the Security Center. It is best to review it from time to time, but even just responding when you receive an alert is helpful.

Since a record is kept of who logged into your account, when, and from where, you should change your password immediately and review your OTP settings if you see an unfamiliar IP address or country.

Also, the Nexon Play app lets you log out remotely.

If you discover that your password has been changed while you are away from your PC, or notice that a hack may be in progress, open the app right away, check your login history, and log out remotely.

Do Not Click Just Any Link

Even if you receive an email saying a payment was made, do not panic. Go directly to the Security Center.

Most Nexon account hacks happen through phishing sites or suspicious links.

Even if you receive an email or text message with attention-grabbing content, or see an interesting comment with a link in a community, it is important to make a habit of not clicking links right away.

​

For example, messages like 'Password change completed' or 'Payment completed' are common. If you did not trigger the action yourself, do not click the link. Instead, go to the Nexon Security Center and check your account status.
