Today, we’re back with another MapleLand quest guide. We met Muse in a previous quest, and this time we’ll be going over one of her other quests, Hughes's New Research.

Muse

Muse asks whether the player has ever been attacked by monsters while traveling the sea. She specifically mentions Poison Poopa, saying it can be especially dangerous because of its poison.

She explains that she had previously asked the scientist Hughes to make an antidote that could neutralize Poison Poopa’s venom. Fortunately, he gladly accepted and agreed to work on it. If the antidote is completed, traveling across the sea should become much easier.

There is one problem, though: he needs a few materials to continue the research. Even though this is meant to help everyone who travels the sea, Muse asks the player for a bit of assistance. It’s not exactly an easy task, but she says she asked because the player is also someone who travels by sea. (So in the end, the player has to do everything...)

Once you accept, she thanks you and explains what materials are needed for the antidote research. You’ll need to hunt Poopa and Poison Poopa to collect around 100 Poopa Eggs and 100 Poison Poopa Poison Spikes.

Poison Poopa, Poopa Hunting Grounds

Poison Poopa also appears in Red Coral Forest, but it is found most often in Crystal Gorge. It is a level 40 monster, so players around level 30 to 50 should be able to hunt it without too much trouble. Keep hunting until you have 100 Poison Spikes.

Next is Poopa. This is also a level 40 monster. Since it appears quite frequently in Sea Gorge, that’s a good place to farm it. Keep hunting until you collect 100 Eggs.

Hughes Location

If you’ve done Hughes-related quests before, you probably already know where to go. Hughes is located on Orbis Tower Basement Floor 2. There’s a passage in the middle, so just head inside.

Once you go in and speak to Hughes, he notices that the player is carrying Poopa Eggs and Poison Poopa Poison Spikes. At first, he seems ready to pay for them, but then he realizes the player came at Muse’s request.

Reward

After hearing that, he says he had been in a difficult spot because he hadn’t been able to gather the research materials, so the player’s help came at just the right time. As a reward, you receive 28,290 EXP and 3 Fame.

Hughes says he can now begin the research properly and is confident that the antidote will be ready soon. With that, Hughes's New Research comes to an end.

Wrapping Up

Today, we went over Hughes's New Research. The rewards are not especially outstanding, but since the quest gives as much as 3 Fame, it’s still a very good option for players who want Fame. If that’s what you’re after, it’s definitely worth doing at least once.
