I'm back with another Mapleland quest guide. We've met Muse in a previous quest, and this time, we'll walk through another of her quests: Hughes's New Research.

Muse

When you meet Muse, she asks whether you've ever been attacked by monsters while traveling through the sea. She warns that attacks from Poison Poopas are particularly dangerous because they are poisonous.

She previously asked the scientist Hughes to make an antidote for Poison Poopa's poison. Fortunately, he readily agreed to help. She explains that having an antidote would make traveling through the sea easier.

However, Hughes needs some materials for his research. The research is meant to benefit everyone traveling through the sea, but Muse asks you, a traveler yourself, to help gather them. She knows it's a difficult task, but she's turning to you because you travel through the sea. (It seems you have to do everything after all...)

Click Accept, and she will thank you and explain which materials Hughes needs for his antidote research. She asks you to hunt Poopas and Poison Poopas to collect about 100 Poopa Eggs and 100 Poison Poopa's Poisonous Spikes.

Poison Poopa and Poopa Hunting Grounds

Poison Poopas also spawn in Red Coral Forest, but you'll find the most in Crystal Gorge. Poison Poopas are level 40 monsters suitable for players at levels 30~50. Keep hunting them until you have 100 Poisonous Spikes.

Next, hunt Poopas, which are also level 40 monsters. You'll find plenty in Ocean I.C, so head there and keep hunting until you have 100 eggs.

Hughes's Location

If you've completed quests involving Hughes before, you probably already know where to find him. He's in Orbis Tower B2. Head through the passage in the middle of the map.

Once inside, speak to Hughes. He notices that you have Poopa Eggs and Poison Poopa's Poisonous Spikes and initially offers to pay for them, before learning that you've come at Muse's request.

Rewards

After hearing this, Hughes explains that he was having trouble obtaining the research materials and is relieved you've brought them. Your reward is 28,290 EXP and 3 Fame.

Hughes can now begin his research in earnest and is confident he can make the antidote soon. That completes Hughes's New Research.

Wrapping Up

That covers Hughes's New Research. The rewards may not be the best overall, but the full 3 Fame makes it an excellent quest for anyone looking to gain Fame. It's worth trying if that's your goal.
